Prayer burn--heard of it? Don't worry, I just found out what it was a few days ago. Anyways a prayer burn: a period of time where people take shifts of prayer/worship. So every minute & hour someone is awake 'keeping watch' and spending time with the Lord.

Our leaders brought this idea to us and we participated in this activity as a squad last night!

People could sign up in slots with groups of 45 minutes from 10:45pm-7:45am. You were to wake up for your slot head to the SMP (squad meeting point) and when you were finished, go back to your campsite. During the slots you could worship, intercede, spend time in prayer, sit in his presence and read scripture.

I originally wanted to take the easy way out and sign up for the 10:45 slot so I could get it done with, move on and go to bed. Instead God said sike and I felt him tell me I needed to get out of my comfort zone and try something different- so I found myself signing up for the 1:45-2:30 am slot.

My alarm went off and I hesitantly got up and walked in the freezing cold to the building. I kept saying to my friends I can't wait until 2:30 so I can go back to bed-well God said sike AGAIN. Me and the two others found ourselves to one of the smaller rooms that branch off of our big room and we started worshipping in the dark. Before I knew it, it was time to go but, I felt the Lord tell me I needed to stay until the morning. I said it to the other girls and one of them said they felt the same way.

So we stayed. (1:45-6:40) We worshipped loud. We interceded. We prayed. We sat in his presence. It was POWERFUL, and I felt so in tune and connected with the Lord. I couldn't help but smile the biggest smile that I was worshipping with my best friends in the middle night. I felt alive and wide awake. I felt the Lord move through that room and it was the best experience.

So the next time you want to just stick to what you are comfortable with, I encourage you to step out of that and do something new-get out of that comfort zone. God has crazy things in store and he will show up in those moments like he did last night.
