A morning during ministry, we were invited into a home. It was a woman and her one month old baby.

As I was sitting on her bed, holding her newborn child, one of my teammates asked “How did this pregnancy go?”

She responded with “It was good, but towards the end I was having a lot of complications and problems. But missionaries came to my house and prayed over me. The next day I gave birth to her!”

Later on at lunch, we were sharing this story, and we found out that it was a team on our squad that had gone into that home to pray for that woman and child.

This is only a fraction of what she told us that morning, but it was so big. I sat there thinking that I got to hold this beautiful, healthy child. A miracle. An answered prayer.

We got to see the physical fruit of the prayers that the other team had prayed for a month earlier. We got to see the impact that that group had made on this woman. How her life had changed. The freedom she had experienced. The joy she now had.

God answers prayers and miracles do happen.

Something I had been struggling with during ministry in the Dominican Republic is feeling unproductive. Going into people’s homes and not knowing if we would ever see these people again is hard. Not being able to see the long term effects is hard. Not being able to see if we were making an impact is hard.

I had been praying for a miracle. And this was it.

Something the Lord is showing me is that he does answer prayers. When it feels like we aren’t doing anything, and it is pointless, he does not. What we do is sometimes just the beginning of the beautiful story that God is writing. He is making a way. In his timing. We might not see it, but that doesn’t mean he stopped working. He heard us, and he is preparing a way.

If you are in a time where it feels like God is being silent, I can promise you he is not. He is working on it all right now.

Ask. He wants to give us what we want and need, we just have to ask. Pray about it. Lean on him for all the answers. Seek him through it all.

This is just one of the many stories of how I have seen God answer prayers in the past month. There are so many more.

God is so so good. He is so faithful, and he is a man of his word.
