I am a person with not a lot of patience. I always like to get things done right away; I hate to wait. If there is a shirt in the store and I love it, but they don’t have my size, chances are I will buy the shirt in the wrong size instead of waiting until the next week.
That being said, when I found out when the routes for 2020 were being released, I thought I would have my answer that same day. I was wrong. It took me five days!! I shocked myself because normally I would have chosen right away! Every single route crossed my mind at least once. I even thought I had my answer, and when I logged on to submit it, I hit cancel. I was frustrated. I prayed and I prayed, and it felt like I was getting nowhere. I just wanted to know where I was going!! BUT, this was God working in me. He was teaching me a lesson: Patience, something that I was not very good at and still am working with. He taught me that not everything is going to be an easy decision, things are going to take time, and it can’t always go my way. He taught me that I need to settle down, make quiet time, and rest in him.
Soooo, “where are you going??”
Route 3:
eSwatini (South Africa): for my first three months I will be living in Nsoko, eSwatini also known as Swaziland. Here we will partner with an Adventure and Missions base and bring hope to children who have been orphaned from the HIV/AIDS epidemic. We will learn how to care for these children and teach them about Jesus.
Ethiopia (East Africa): Here we will be living in Addis Ababa, serving with HOPEthiopia. This ministry tries to create safe communities for people at risk, and is committed to the restoration of both the people and land. We will show love to children, care for the often neglected elderly, as well as taking part in reforestation projects.
Cambodia (Asia): While in Cambodia, our focus is Community Outreach. We will minister to local street kids, and families, and teach English!
