SMT. You’ve heard of it if you’ve read my last blog. Where we go house to house in the community with our translators, asking if we can talk. This usually leads to us going into homes, and having conversations. Sometimes these visits are short, we ask a few questions and then we pray. Sometimes we meet people who are on fire for the Lord, we learn about them, and hear their testimony. We get to know and we encourage eachother. Other times we just share some laughs and stories. Trying to fit the story of Jesus in all the in betweens. This type of ministry can get pretty exaughsting. Mentally, emotionally, and physically.

This past week we partnered with a pastor who we have partnered with multiple times. We are familiar with the community and recognize the homes and faces we have already began to build relationships with. It was hard for my team to go back into this area and not stop and reconnect with people we had already met. We found ourselves saying “what other people could be here that we haven’t met already?” It felt like most of our time was just walking around.

But eventually we found ourselves sitting in a woman’s home sharing the gospel. She had only been living in this house for a few days because her house was getting construction. Meaning she hadn’t been living there the past times we went. She said she had been wanting to have God enter her heart for a few weeks but was waiting for something. We were that something. After talking with her, we asked “how do you feel about all of this?” She responded boldly with “I want to recieve Christ into my heart today.” So a teammate led her through that process and with tears in her eyes she accepted Christ. We celebrated and invited her to the church we attend every Sunday!! God knew she would be in that house and he sent us. He knew the timing of her salvation and this is just the beginning of one of His beautiful stories.

This is one of the moments where God shows up and says “This is why you are here.” Yes it is awkward to walk into random houses with a language barrier but if it glorifies the Lord then with a bold yes, I will.

There are people everywhere, not just in foreign countries in need of the SIMPLE gospel. People in your community and people in the grocery store waiting to hear. They are hungry. God wants to use you to put an end to their waiting. If we are people who taste and see that the Lord is good l, why not share that with people each day. We need to live in urgency of people to hear this good news. To come out of a hiding place and shine our light.
